Transportation

MBTA Commuter Rail provides transportation to suburban communities.  North Station and South Station are the two major terminals in Boston, and are both accessible by subway lines.  For information call 800-392-6100.
 
Amtrak provides national service from South Station, Back Bay Station and Route 128 in Westwood.  Commuter lines are operated by the MBTA, which has contracted with Amtrak to run the service from both North Station and South Station.  Refer to the MBTA commuter train map for stations along each branch (see next page).  Call for information 800-872-7245.


Bus

MBTA
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) runs the city’s subways, trolleys and surface buses and commuter trains.  With the original tracks laid in 1897, together with recent line updates, the system can now claim to be the oldest and newest in the country.  Schedules and fare information can be obtained by calling 617-222-5000.
